My work focuses on sustainable textiles, with a core philosophy based around the principles of slow design. I consider adaptability, durability and purpose as an imperative part of the creation process. I am primarily interested in the act of making; my work is an ongoing study of body/space adornment and what it means to holistically and transparently construct textiles by hand. I find inspiration in the discarded and the rejected, in destruction and rebirth.
My designs are created using locally produced, botanically dyed, natural fibres and recycled metals, and combine hand-manipulated techniques - weaving, tapestry and metalwork - in order to make contemporary, bespoke pieces.
